Beyond Internet Protocols
Abstract
Internet development has expanded to utilize transmission media with wired or wireless communication means as broadcasting, cellular, deep space networks, fiber optical cables and satellite communication systems. As a consequence, the Internet protocols need to be interfaced with other transmission protocols. Using any transmission system as pipeline, no apparent protocol problems exist as in the present operations. For optimal global and local transmission efficiency and reliability, this paper suggests solutions for the combined protocols of Internet, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), and satellite communications (AIS).
