A Fast Practical Method for Recovery of Lost Files in Digital Forensics

Abstract


In this paper, we present a practical method for recovery of lost files from locally accessible data storage, such as an HDD. Our approach puts strong emphasis on the practical aspect of file recovery and accessibility of recovery tools, which can be of great importance as a first action in the process of lost file recovery. It has applications, not only in file recovery, but also in digital forensic processes.
