A Modified Three-Phased Object-Oriented Mining Approach for Association Rules
Abstract
Recently, the object concept has been very popular and used in a variety of applications, especially for complex data description. In this paper, we propose an approach to find from objects three kinds of knowledge: inter-class association rules, intra-class association rules and inter-intra association rules. There are three phases in the algorithm, with each for a kind of knowledge. The results from the previous phase can be used to prune candidates in the current phase. The candidates generated will thus become much fewer than those without pruning. Besides, the approach can be easily modified to stop at an intermediate phase if only the desired kind of knowledge is to be obtained. An example is also given to illustrate the proposed algorithm.
