A New Architecture of Multicast Interworking between MANET and Fixed Network
Abstract
Cross-network multicast interworking between MANET and various heterogeneous networks is development tendency of network integration. The IP multicast routing protocols in traditional fixed network cannot be directly used in MANET, while present MANET multicast protocols can only be used in isolated MANET. These protocols do not provide multicast interworking function between heterogeneous networks. In this paper a new architecture MAMF is proposed which could implement multicast interworking smoothly between fixed network and MANET. MAMF uses Certificate Authority (CA) to effectively manage cross-network multicast sessions, and implements multicast interworking between MANET and fixed networks. The test results show that MAMF scheme has merits such as low multicast packet loss rate and slight inter-arrival jitter in the course of cross-network multicast session handover and can meet the demands of real-time multimedia multicast session.
