Seamless Handover Optimization Based on L2 Triggers Information
Abstract
The evolution of both Internet and cellular networks tends toward an IP mobility scheme for data and voice communication. Mobile IPv6 is specifically designed to manage host mobility between IPv6 networks. But new handheld computers or digital assistants usually integrate several network interfaces for which Mobile IPv6 is not optimized. We propose to add a strong interaction between the Link Layer and the Network Layer to anticipate Network Layer operations such as vertical and horizontal handovers.
