一個在NBEN上之有效可行的RSVP over ATM LAN Emulation的實作與測試
Abstract
在本篇論文中,我們將在NBEN(National Broadband Experimental Networks,國家寬頻實驗網路)上之一個以Linux為作業系統的無線ATM網路系統中提出一個有效可行的RSVP(Resource reSerVation Protocol) over ATM LANE (Local Area Network Emulation)的實作方法,並報告我們的測試結果。我們的實作可以分為三個主要的部份。在第一部份,RSVP訊息之相關參數將首先被存入我們所設計的一個參數結構內,然後此參數結構將被以訊息佇列的方式傳送至ATM LANE之擴充監控程式,如此該監控程式便能依照所接受之參數結構來設定相對應之ATM服務參數。在第二部份,我們將使用另外一個參數結構和用同樣的訊息佇列方式來讓上層應用程式和下層監控程式可以互相通訊以使得上層應用程式將可以獲得,建立,或釋放其所需要的無線通訊頻寬,並且能夠處理與hand-off相關之情況。在第三部份,我們將使用訊息佇列的方式來建立無線網路卡與擷取點(Access Point:AP)之間的無線通道的頻寬預留。如此,籍由我們的實作,整個無線ATM網路系統便可具備完整之RSVP資源預留功能。最後,我們已在NBEN上完成了我們的實作的安裝,執行,與測試之相關實驗。實驗結果顯示我們所設計的參數結構和訊息佇列之訊息功能確實能發揮功用,這証實了我們的實作確實可以在一個以Linux為作業系統的無線ATM網路中有效的實現RSVP over ATM LANE。In this paper, we will propose an effective and feasible implementation of RSVP (Resource reSerVation Protocol) over ATM LANE (Local Area Network Emulation) in a Linux-based wireless ATM network system of NBEN (National Broadband Experimental Networks), and present the results of our experiments. Our implementations are divided into three main parts. In the first part, the related parameters of RSVP messages will be firstly put into a designed parameter structure, Then this parameter structure will be transferred to an ATM LANE's expanded monitor program by means of message queuing. Finally, the expanded monitor program can set up the corresponding ATM service parameters according to the received parameter structure. In the second part, we make the application program in the upper layer and the expanded monitor program in the lower layer mutually communicable by employing another parameter structure and the same message queuing technique. This way, the application program can not only acquire, establish, and release the required wireless bandwidth but also deal with the hand-off problems. In the third part, the message queuing technique is adopted to realize the bandwidth reservation in the wireless link between a wireless network card and an access point. As a result, through our implementations, the whole wireless ATM network system is equipped with the complete RSVP's resource reservation functions. Finally, extensive experiments for installing, executing, and testing our implementations have been conducted on NBEN. The results of experiments indicate that our proposed parameter structures and message queuing techniques function well, which in turn reveal that our implementations can efficiently realize RSVP over ATM LANE in a Linux-based wireless ATM network system.
