Integration of SOAP-based Negotiation Scheme with a Standardized Wireless Execution Environment (SWEE) for Mobile Commerce

Abstract

In order to popularize the mobile commerce, some software technologies could be largely promoted. One of them is the development of a “standardized application execution environment” on mobile device; another of them is the establishment of the “standardized negotiation scheme” between mobile devices and content providers. Under the standardized application execution environment of mobile device, the content provider could provide the proper applications and services for the mobile device to execute. To provide the standardized negotiation scheme ensures a smooth process of mobile commerce without causing any communication problems. This paper mainly proposes these two kinds of software technologies described above to improve mobile commerce.
This paper first proposes a standardized application execution environment in a mobile device, called SWEE (Standardized Wireless Execution Environment). SWEE provides the mobile device with a standardized application execution environment and supplies the ability to negotiate with the SWEE-SE (SWEE Service Environment). SWEE-SE could be considered as a content provider in the mobile commerce domain to supply applications and services for SWEE.
Based on the SWEE software architecture, SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) technology proposed by W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) is adopted to provide the standardized negotiation scheme between SWEE and SWEE-SE. SOAP-based negotiation scheme could supply the “interactive wireless technologies” which include the data transmission mechanism, wireless access mechanism, software update & bug-fix mechanism, and etc.
