A SC-Vivaldi Network Coordinate System Based Method for IP Geolocation
Abstract
Aiming at the problem that existing IP geolocation methods based on delay measurement is easily affected by accuracy and measurability of round-trip times, a geolocation method utilized network coordinate system (NCS) is proposed in this paper. According to assign different spring constants to each link, we present a new NCS -- SC-Vivaldi, such that the distance between the coordinates of the two hosts could predict the propagation delay between the hosts, and then target IP could be geolocalized by the predicted delay. The algorithm analysis and experimental results show that, SC-Vivaldi can be used for IP geolocation and it is also expected to reduce the impact of unmeasured delay to some extent.
