Abstract

This paper describes a data transmission method and system for a sensor module via an optical fiber, wherein power and data to electronic system are transmitted using a single optical fiber. A photovoltaic element is used to convert the light power signal into electrical energy and portion of which can be stored in an energy storage element. The photovoltaic element can also receive or transmit a light data signal in response to a pause in the received light power signal. This technology can save additional power wiring and is easy to install sensor nodes.
