Theme and Scope The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the Internet from a communication infrastructure into an intelligent, adaptive, and human-centered ecosystem. Emerging technologies such as generative AI, large language models (LLMs), multimodal learning, continual and federated learning, and edge intelligence are enabling Internet systems to learn from evolving data, adapt to dynamic environments, and provide personalized and context-aware services. The integration of AI with the Internet of Things (IoT), edge-cloud computing, mobile systems, and next-generation networks creates new opportunities for distributed and adaptive intelligence. However, increasing autonomy also introduces critical challenges in reliability, privacy, security, fairness, explainability, and user trust. Future Internet systems must therefore achieve not only high AI performance but also continuous adaptation, responsible decision-making, and meaningful human interaction. This special issue aims to advance theories, architectures, algorithms, and applications of adaptive and human-centered AI for next-generation Internet systems. We invite high-quality original research articles, technical developments, experimental studies, and comprehensive surveys addressing adaptive intelligence, human-AI interaction, trustworthy AI, and intelligent Internet technologies and applications.
