Special Issue: Generative AI Agents: Architectures, Applications, and Intelligent Autonomous Systems

Theme and Scope

The rapid advancement of generative artificial intelligence, large language models (LLMs), multimodal foundation models, and autonomous agent technologies has accelerated the emergence of Generative AI Agents capable of reasoning, planning, memory management, tool utilization, and autonomous task execution. Recent developments in agentic AI frameworks have demonstrated transformative potential across numerous domains, including intelligent education, enterprise automation, healthcare, digital commerce, smart manufacturing, robotics, cybersecurity, software engineering, and scientific discovery. Generative AI agents are increasingly capable of conducting multi-step reasoning, coordinating collaborative workflows, integrating multimodal information, and continuously learning from dynamic environments.

Despite these advances, several critical challenges remain unresolved, including hallucination mitigation, trustworthy reasoning, explainability, memory consistency, multi-agent coordination, security vulnerabilities, ethical governance, privacy preservation, computational efficiency, and scalable deployment in real-world applications. This special issue aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for researchers, engineers, and practitioners to present the latest theories, methodologies, architectures, systems, and applications related to Generative AI Agents. Original and high-quality research contributions are solicited in areas including, but not limited to, the following topics.

  • Architectures for Generative AI Agents
  • Autonomous and Goal-Oriented AI Systems
  • LLM-based Agent Frameworks and Orchestration
  • Generative AI Agents for Intelligent Tutoring Systems
